To assist in the provision of a routine clinical laboratory diagnostic service as part of the Paediatric Laboratory Medicine in the Division of Core Clinical Services at here at GOSH
This includes providing laboratory and administrative support to the Immunology Laboratory under the supervision of the registered scientific staff and participate in and assist with the supervision and training of other staff in their duties. You will perform a range of specialist technical and scientific activities within the department.
Associate Practitioners play a key role in supporting Biomedical Scientists and the wider team within the Immunology Laboratory. You will assist in the performance of immunological assays, including both automated and manual techniques, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with laboratory protocols.
Your responsibilities will include participating in quality control procedures, assessing quality control data for consistency and accuracy, and reporting any deviations or concerns to Biomedical/Healthcare Scientist colleagues. You are also involved in the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of specialised Immunology equipment and analysers.
In addition, you will support the supervision and training of junior or new staff, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment in line with departmental Health and Safety and UKAS accreditation standards.
