The Associate Macmillan Palliative Care Nurse will work as a member of the wider locality based multidisciplinary Macmillan Palliative Care Supportive Service. The post holder will support Neighbourhood teams to deliver locally driven high quality care including symptom management and psychological support, in response to patients' and carers’ needs. This includes education of other health care professionals, training, support and advice for the multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with 4 years post registration experience and extensive experience in delivering palliative care in the community. Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team would be beneficial.
You will be responsible for teaching and providing training to staff in the community whilst supporting and supervising other staff in the clinical environment.
You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and complete an advanced communication skills training course.
In depth knowledge of National Policies and Procedures in Palliative Care and good caseload management skills are a key part of the role. The ability to visit patients in their own home is essential to the role.
