An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to lead and manage our Radiopharmacy service at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As the Associate Director of Pharmacy, Radiopharmacy, you will oversee the provision of radiopharmaceuticals under an MHRA Specials License, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and the strategic development of the service both within the Trust and externally.  To support you in this role you will have a team of highly specialised and dedicated professionals.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is a leading healthcare provider and one of the largest Trusts in the country.  We provide a number of specialty services at a regional and national level, including genomic therapy and tertiary cancer services such as CAR-T cells. The Pharmacy department has large well established clinical teams, working in some areas to a consultant level.

As the Associate Director of Pharmacy, Radiopharmacy, you will provide expert advice to medical consultants and other healthcare and scientific professionals, helping them perform clinical nuclear medicine procedures with accuracy and confidence. Leading the strategic development of Radiopharmacy services, you will collaborate with commissioners to enhance the quality and sustainability of the service.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide professional leadership and management of the Trust Manufacturing Specials (MS) licensed Radiopharmacy service;
  • Lead and manage the Radiopharmacy team including those named as responsible for (Production and Quality) on the MS licence.
  • Manage the Radiopharmacy service to the Trust and to external clients;
  • Provide expert advice internally and externally to medical consultants and other healthcare and scientific professionals to assist them in the performance of clinical nuclear medicine procedures;
  • Lead the strategic development of Radiopharmacy services within the Trust in collaboration with commissioners of the service;
  • Be responsible for clinical governance and Good Manufacturing Practice of Radiopharmacy provision;
  • Be responsible for the development of strategic plans for the Radiopharmacy service and management to ensure that services provided are responsive and efficient;
  • Be responsible for the delivery of a cost effective service;
  • Provide professional advice to Radiopharmacy customers as requested;
  • Provide specialist expertise in Radiopharmacy across the Trust;
  • Act as a recognised expert on Radiopharmacy internally and externally including at a regional and national level.
  • Provide education and training in Radiopharmacy at a local, regional and national level as requested
