Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, values-led operational leader to join the Clinical and Scientific Services (CSS) Clinical Group, within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, as an Associate Director of Operations and Performance for the Imaging Care Division

This is a senior leadership role within one of the Trust’s largest and most complex Care Divisions.  Responsible for the operational delivery of Imaging services across all of MFT, and working as part of the Imaging Divisional Triumvirate, the post holder will provide compassionate, visible and credible operational leadership, ensuring high-quality, safe and efficient services are delivered for patients, while supporting and developing our people.

Previous experience in an Imaging/radiographic environment is not essential; we are seeking an experienced operational leader who combines a strong focus on delivery and performance with a genuine commitment to supportive, inclusive and collaborative working. You will join a welcoming and high-performing leadership team where you will be encouraged to grow, innovate and shape the future of Imaging and diagnostic services across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Associate Director of Operations and Performance will:

  • Provide senior operational leadership to the Division of Imaging, ensuring delivery of agreed quality, access, performance and financial objectives.
  • Work in close partnership with clinical leaders as part of the Divisional Triumvirate, role-modelling collective, compassionate and inclusive leadership.
  • Lead and support operational and clinical teams, creating a culture where people feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed.
  • Drive continuous improvement across patient pathways, performance standards and operational processes, balancing day-to-day delivery with strategic development.
  • Ensure robust governance, risk management and operational grip, maintaining a relentless focus on patient safety, experience and outcomes.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across CSS, the wider Trust and system partners to support integrated and sustainable service delivery.
  • Act as a visible and approachable leader, providing calm, compassionate leadership that embodies Trust values.
