Band 8C Associate Director of Operations (Strategic Business Delivery) - Planned Care Group

As the Associate Director of Operations for Planned Care at Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Trust you will support and deputise for the Director of Operations for the largest Care Group in the Trust with budget of circa £120M spanning all surgical and cancer pathways. You will take the lead on strategic business delivery within the Care Group.

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership and drive the generation and use of business intelligence for the delivery and development of highly complex services across the Care Group including private patients. The post holder is responsible for defining the Care Group strategy alongside the Director of Operations and wider Care Group Board and taking the lead on performance and planning against strategic deliverables across the directorates.

The role will lead the management of a number of external partnerships, working closely with the BOB Integrated Care Board, strategic partners in the ICS and partnership working arrangements with independent sector providers. The post holder will take a lead operational role for the key functions in the services that attract significant regulatory, public and political scrutiny and identify opportunities for growth and development of our services through mechanisms such as lead provider arrangements.

Main duties of the job

The Associate Director will provide leadership to directorate teams to develop, deliver and improve services, ensuring local and national targets are achieved through the delivery of the best quality patient care and experience within set financial controls and resources. The post holder will support the Director of Operations in the implementation of operational objectives within the care group and involves working closely with Care Group Board, and each Directorate and Speciality triumvirate.

The post holder will utilise business intelligence methodologies to identify and implement innovative solutions to address key issues. They will lead on delivery of actions with the operational team which realise benefits for cost improvement programmes and long-term efficiency and productivity.

Working closely with the Care Group PCP, the post holder will also lead the creation and embedding of a rolling learning and development programme that supports the overall development of the operational and administrative teams in the care group to ensure knowledge creation and skill development as well as retention and succession planning.
