Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Chief Operating Officer (ACOO) – Performance Improvement to join our senior leadership team at Wye Valley NHS Trust.

This is a pivotal role supporting the Chief Operating Officer in delivering large-scale performance improvement, service transformation and productivity programmes across the Trust and the wider One Herefordshire system.

Working closely with Executive, Clinical and Operational leaders, you will lead complex improvement portfolios that drive quality, patient safety, operational performance and financial sustainability.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead and deliver performance improvement, productivity and transformation programmes within an agreed portfolio
  • Be accountable for the operational implementation of strategic plans, ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care
  • Work in partnership with Divisional Triumvirates, Clinical leaders and Corporate teams
  • Provide senior oversight of performance management, reporting and assurance
  • Act as Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for large-scale transformation projects
  • Lead service redesign and pathway transformation to reduce waiting times
  • Ensure strong clinical governance, risk management and complaint resolution
  • Contribute to Trust-wide and system-level business cases
  • Provide leadership for financial management and budgetary control
  • When required, act as Associate Chief Operating Officer for a Division
