We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Psychologist to work alongside Clinical Psychologists and Nurse Therapists working within the North Wales Forensic Psychiatric Service to undertake assessments, formulations and provide psychological interventions within a forensic inpatient setting.
The post provides an excellent opportunity for those seeking to gain experience of working with complex mental health issues and be involved with the development of a trauma informed approach within in the service.
The core component of this post is clinical in nature, specifically the administration and scoring of psychological tests, undertaking assessments as well as providing circumscribed psychological interventions. The post will be supporting the development of trauma informed approaches to forensic mental health care.
In addition, on occasion the Assistant Psychologist may become involved in clinical audit or service-related research projects. Regular clinical supervision will be provided and there are well-established within service opportunities for the development of clinical skills. Experience of working with people with mental health difficulties or a similar clinical population is essential. The ability to provide group-based interventions would be an advantage.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
