A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Practitioner to undertake the scrub role in theatre.

You will support the delivery of evidence-based care under the direction and support of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) by following the Health Board's protocols, policies, procedures, pathways and care plans.

As an Assistant Practitioner, you will be part of a pioneering team of dynamic individuals, scrubbing and circulating for a range of surgical procedures within a specific scope of practice within the Health Board and specifically for this post, at Prince Philip Hospital Main Theatres.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated existing Band 4 Assistant Practitioner, who would like to extend their skills even further and undertake the specialist scrub role: assisting the surgeon during specific surgical procedures. You will be part of an exclusive group, of scrub AP's which saw Hywel Dda University Health Board as the first in Wales to champion this role in 2018.

The enthusiastic individual must be willing to work towards specific perioperative competencies outlined in the bespoke theatre scrub workbook. The applicant should be focused and keen to undertake this varied and exciting role.

Various full and part time hours are available.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
