Work as part of the Diabetic Foot Ulcer team under the supervision and with the support of the Consultant Podiatrist, assisting qualified podiatric staff, clinically and administratively to ensure a quality service is provided in supporting the outpatient wound care clinics and ward based Diabetic foot Ulcer patients.
Main duties of the job
- Prepare clinical room, equipment and patient for treatment.
- Carry out initial Neurovascular Foot assessment, swab and photograph wounds.
- Carry out wound dressings and bandaging in outpatients and wards.
- Liaise with Principal Podiatrist, Diabetes Consultant and Nursing teams regarding ongoing management
- Maintain and manage stock levels for the clinic.
- Assist Patients attending clinic who require support with handling and moving to access their treatment in clinic.
- Provide education/advice and guidance to other Health Care colleagues on wound dressings and pressure management devices as well as to patient and their families.
- Follow agreed departmental guidelines and protocols for patients, work unsupervised, in accordance with a clear and agreed care plan that is delegated by a Podiatrist working as part of the Diabetic Foot team.
