ASPH Clinical Attachment Programme for 6 weeks.
The next programme is planned to start in January 2025.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for international medical graduates to undertake our Clinical Attachment Programme.
This programme is ideally suited to doctors who have already passed PLAB 1 and are soon expecting to gain their full GMC registration, or who are already registered with the GMC, but have no experience of working in the NHS. Those who successfully complete the programme will be offered and are expected to accept a Trust Grade Foundation level post at ASPH.
For the right candidates with appropriate postgraduate qualifications, sufficient clinical experience and the GMC Licence to Practise, following interview we may be able to offer straightaway FY1-level or FY2-level Trust Grade Doctor posts on a 1-year Fixed Term Contract, with the first 6 weeks of employment following the same pattern as the Clinical Attachment programme.
The ASPH Clinical Attachment programme is a six week long programme, filled with multiple educational and clinical experiences, that is fully supported by a large group of staff including consultants. Please look at the Programme Description document (under Job Description & Person Specification) for more information about the programme.
Our Trust has been awarded the recognition of Highly Commended for Diversity and Inclusion Team of the Year at the BMJ Awards in 2021.
This advert will close as soon as sufficient applications have been received, so please submit your application as soon as you can, if interested.
A Clinical Attachment at Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an unpaid six week placement to enable doctors to get experience in the UK.
The six week programme consists of a settling in and Induction week, followed by five weeks rotation through different specialties. These specialties will be varied, but we will try to take into account the interests of candidates as much as possible.
The six weeks period will include multiple different Education Opportunities, including, but not limited
to:
Corporate Induction
IT Training
Resus Training
Grand Rounds
Teaching sessions in various specialties
During the programme, candidates will be fully supported by an Educational Supervisor for the entire six weeks, a Clinical Supervisor for each specialty and a team of others that will be able to provide pastoral and educational support. During the last week of an attachment programme, we will invite candidates to take part in an OSCE style assessment, after which, if deemed suitable, the candidate will be offered a two year contract a Ashford and St Peters. During this employment, we will aim to give you a rotational programme containing at least one of your preferred specialties, access to the foundation eportfolio system and an Educational/Clinical Supervisor, which will set the doctor up with the same skills and experiences as a doctor finishing the Foundation Programme. You will be able to attend the Post-Graduate Certificate in Health Leadership and Education at the Royal Holloway University of London if successful.
If after an offer of employment is made, the doctor decides not to work with us, they would be liable to pay fees associate with the attachment, including any accommodation costs incurred by the Trust. Provided offers of employment are accepted, there are no fees to pay.
