Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Arts Therapist into the Basingstoke Specialist community CAMHS team in Hampshire. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team who put young people at the heart of their practice.

Arts Psychotherapy is an integral part of the service. You will join our Psychological Therapies professions contributing to our innovation and commitment to ongoing service improvement and compassionate care.

You will be creative and flexible and offer assessments and Arts Psychotherapy interventions for children, young people and their families, including young people with complex mental health needs and care experienced young people. The role will also involve supporting the review of clinical Art Therapy need and demand. We aim to work collaboratively across a variety of agencies to support safe and effective shared care, quality, and equality.

You will be supported by peers and supervision. The trust provides a supervision package including individual clinical & management supervision, supporting continuing professional development and a regular Arts & Creative Therapies profession peer support group

Main duties of the job

To carry out specialist psychological therapy assessments of clients referred to the service in order to reach a psychological formulation of the client's difficulties.

To formulate/implement plans for psychological treatment/management of clients' mental health problems, based upon an appropriate framework of the client's problems and to practice in the context of evidence-based approaches

To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, families, and groups, adjusting, and refining psychological formulations, drawing upon recognised explanatory models and the evidence base.

To deliver psychological therapy in the context of collaborative therapeutic relationships, and to resolve difficulties in the therapeutic relationship with humility and compassion

To offer Psychological Therapy to clients using the service who have more complex or multiple difficulties or where therapy is complicated by interpersonal factors.

Monitor and advise clients on the safe use of arts materials and processes and maintain cleanliness, order, and safety of workplace

Ensure adequate confidential and safe storage for artefacts produced during the arts therapy process in line with professional guidelines

To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulations, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
