Job overview

Are you interested in working in an Ambulance environment and achieving a nationally recognised qualification? You can ‘earn while you learn’ whilst training to be an Emergency Medical Technician.

The Trust are recruiting to our apprenticeship programme for Emergency Medical Technicians across the North West region for 2025/2026

As an apprentice you will receive 80% of the top of Band 4 (currently £24,169 per annum) for the first 12 months. Due to an uplift in the national living wage from 1st April 2025 the Trust have taken the decision to temporarily increase the rates of pay for the banding associated to this role. This will be reviewed once we receive notification of the annual pay uplift review from NHS Employers for 2025/26. Your apprenticeship will last between 15-18 months.

Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will eligible to move onto a full Emergency Medical Technician contract of employment. The salary for this will be Band 4 £26,530 – £29,114 per annum plus an appropriate unsocial hour’s payment under section 2 for Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

Further detailed information on the role can be found on the ‘FAQ document’ attached to this advert. Please note that we cannot guarantee that a vacancy will be available at your local ambulance station, but if successful we will aim to place you as close to your home address as possible depending on where the vacancies are.

Main duties of the job

As an apprentice, you will work alongside other EMT staff and Paramedics initiating and delivering appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in a pre-hospital environment.

During your apprenticeship you will be applying appropriate skills and knowledge to safely provide care for patients, working within the scope of practice for the role.
