We have an exciting opportunity, we are offering a dietetic apprenticeship to work and train within our dynamic forward-thinking paediatric team of Dietitians, at Bristol Royal Hospital for children our regional children’s hospital for the South West.

We are a large friendly department of Dietitians, Dietetic Support Workers, Special Feed Unit support workers and administration staff. You will have a fantastic opportunity to gain a broad experience in paediatric dietetics whilst training to be a dietitian.

As an Apprentice Dietitian you will undertake a 3-year apprenticeship leading to a BSc (Hons) degree in Dietetics enabling registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a registered dietitian, while delivering your job as a Dietetic Support Worker. As part of your apprenticeship you will be given 1 day per week to complete mandatory higher education study with the expectation that there will be a further commitment to study within your own personal time.

Main duties of the job

The Apprentice Dietitian will work under dietetic supervision to support the dietitians in providing a nutrition and dietetic service in the areas of Inherited Metabolic disease and Ketogenic Diet Therapy for patients and their carers. Your role will also require you to work with other healthcare professionals that make up the multidisplinary team that provides care to these children and their families whilst also, supporting the implementation of food policy across the Trust.
