Role Overview
The Minister for Health invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of Ordinary Member to the Board of National Treatment Purchase Fund Board
Essential
Candidates wishing to apply must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at the appropriately senior level in two or more of the following areas:
- Qualified accountant / auditor, ideally with exposure to public sector accountancy practices.
- Clinical / medical experience and expertise, ideally holding a medical qualification with clinical experience in an acute hospital with exposure to general surgery.
- Corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
- Finance including relevant experience in accountancy practices, audit, financial planning and the presentation and interpretation of financial performance, ability to understand health care economics and required budgets.
- Health sector experience.
- Human resources, includes working with pensions, industrial relations, talent management and organisational development.
- ICT (Information Communication Technology) experience and expertise, including artificial intelligence and cyber security.
- Legal experience, with a legal qualification and regulatory experience relevant to a public body such as the NTPF.
- Previous board experience, ideally on a State board or in the health sector.
- Procurement models and expertise in current rules and regulations, with particular focus on probity, value for money and patient safety.
- Previous public sector experience.
- Risk management with a particular focus on the healthcare sector and/or public sector bodies with the capacity to understand and manage risks challenging the organisation and the delivery of its functions.
Desirable
It is also desirable that candidates demonstrate evidence of experience in the following:
- Highly developed oral, written, presentation and leadership skills, with the ability to develop, communicate and gain ownership for a clear vision and direction;
- Strong influencing skills, ability to communicate with impact and be able to convince through personal credibility;
- A strong lateral thinker with an objective approach to decision-making and the confidence and resilience required to operate in a complex and high-profile organisation.
