The Applications Manager role is a position that will unify policies, procedures, practices and skilled teams initially across Guy’s and St Thomas’ & King’s  College Hospital NHS Trusts.   We have 1 role available to cover  maternity leave in our exciting ITCS Community Team which has been responsible for delivering the largest, most comprehensive rollout of Epic tools to Community services in the UK.

As a senior member of the Applications Team, the post holder is responsible for maintaining the integrity and advancing the development of the Epic modules associated with the area of care delivery in which the post is based, as well as any other associated software applications. They will be responsible for providing overall management of large scale and complex change and improvement projects as part of this role.

The successful candidate needs to have a  proven track record of delivering a programme of work on time and achieving key deliverables as well as experience of managing a large team. It is key that they have NHS System knowledge to be able to analyse and suggest ways to improve current workflows.

This role will require some travel between Guy's and St. Thomas', King's College Hospital and Royal Brompton and Harefield sites.

Main duties of the job

As an Applications Manager you will lead the configuration and deployment of a number of key modules within Epic to align with new workflows and patient pathways.  We are seeking individuals who have appropriate qualifications and clinical or operational NHS experience.   As an Applications Manager you will manage a team supported by a Deputy Applications manager and Senior Analysts and take joint responsibility with other workstream leads for the  delivery of future projects alongside BAU management.

You must be able to juggle multiple, sometimes conflicting deadlines and maintain strong working relationships across the wider end user community as well as others within the ITCS team. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to break down barriers of understanding across teams and leading by example will be essential in this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Working with the appropriate stakeholders to analyse, negotiate and facilitate agreement for change to high-impact or critical workflows and current working practices, whilst managing expectations and resolving conflicts when necessary; • Leading regular process review, feedback and system development meetings both within the systems team and with external stakeholders;
  • Directing careful planning for systems implementation and the roll-out process; taking into account all dependent variables and liaise with all affected teams, staff and departments;
  • Managing, co-ordinating and leading the multi-disciplinary applications team whilst ensuring a consistent approach to the configuration of the Epic modules and other associated software applications; • Managing, co-ordinating and leading a team of Senior Analysts and Analysts; • Leading in the development of both the required modules for Epic and other software applications associated with the area of care delivery in which the post is based while ensuring design integrity of the modules and applications; • The post holder will be responsible for leading the establishment of effective partnerships and service improvement plans, supporting and developing new and innovative models of healthcare management and delivery; • Analysing and suggesting ways to improve current workflows and working practices, the post holder will develop and oversee the direction and delivery of change projects, and support and enable senior managers, clinicians, partners and directors; • Providing leadership directly and indirectly for project/change management and support and identity resources needed to enable project delivery; • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective  management of interdependencies and delivery of objectives; • Assisting with ongoing testing and upgrades of systems to ensure they are safe, usable, secure and robust, both following changes to configuration, as well as development of new releases of software;  • Delivering complex software demonstrations
