Job overview

The Applications Team at St George’s is looking for an experienced Technical Development Lead to join the Information and Digital Technology Applications Team. The successful applicant will:

  • drive improvements and innovative solutions by leading on the development of the technical and solution architecture that includes Cerner Millennium, other applications systems, including devices, technical architectures between Cerner Millennium and other systems and devices supported by IDT, but not limited to these alone. You will be proficient in many different software development areas that may include but not be limited to databases and SQL, integration, scripting languages, web tools.
  • conduct appropriate due diligence work to determine requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, data management, practices, procedures, organisation, and equipment and will need to drive developments and technical enhancements from feasibility to delivery.
  • will provide technical expertise to enable the design, configuration of software, other system components and equipment for systems testing, taking into consideration national, regional, Trust and supplier data standards and architectures.
  • will develop all technical documentation such as system high-level and low-level design, collaborating with internal technical and external teams to develop and agree these, including any plans for the way forward.

  • 1.    You will apply your application knowledge and expertise to proactively manage and support customers’ requirements.  Including, but not limited to, information and advice on changes to the application, design, support, national and local standards, application solutions for clinical workflow and clinical care and testing of applications. 2.    You will develop and maintain your own analytical and technical skills employing these to aid Trust decision making processes. You will be proficient in many different software development areas that may include but not be limited to databases and SQL, integration, scripting languages, web tools. 3.    You will use your professional skills to work efficiently and cooperatively to meet customers’ information needs through the provision of regular reports, updates on the department incident and change management system, advice and ad-hoc analyses.

Professional

  • You will own the process of seeking requirements from non-technical stakeholders, translating them into technical requirements for suppliers and resources, and navigating the process of risk and issue resolution for delivery of sustainable solutions.
  • You will manage incident and problem management from requests through to sustainable solutions.
  • You will have the judgement to understand which tasks and issues should be prioritised to keep the Trust safe and for efficient delivery of both projects and BAU requests.
  • You will manage and contribute to the management of planned and unplanned service disruptions.
  • You will support the provision of a structured change management approach and methodology for the impact of any change is always applied. Policy & Service Development Implementation
  • You will support the development of policies and procedures related to applications which will impact across the whole organisation.
  • You will support the implementation of policies for applications as part of the team. Applications Lifecycle Management: You will contribute to and support the development of an integration design methodology and capability within the team. including requirements management, design, build, deploy, optimise and support, undertaking monitored support processes, with incident and problem management.
