Applications are invited for the Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine International Training Fellow position, starting in October 2026 for 24 months. The fellow posts join an existing pool of numbered trainees who are taking part in a comprehensive ST4+ training program in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.

This position has been created to enable successful candidates to develop a special interest in Perioperative Medicine with particular regard to assessment of high risk surgical patients, anaesthesia for major surgery and preoperative assessment including weekly MDT meetings.  There will be opportunity to develop skills in quality improvement, research, teaching and training.  Successful applicants will be encouraged to complete the Advanced training module in Perioperative Medicine in accordance with RCOA guidance.  The post would suit an individual seeking a CT3 equivalent (Stage 1 ‘top up’) post, Out of Programme for Experience (OOPE) or post-CCT experience.

Applicants should have at least 2 years’ experience in the specialty of Anaesthesia at CT 1-2 level or above. Ideally this would include at least 12 months in the UK and include at least 3 months working in Intensive Care.

Main duties of the job

This is a Medical Training Initiative (MTI) International Training Clinical Fellow post based at the Royal Free Hospital site, suitable for international doctors who have trained in Anaesthesia in their country and are looking to further enhance their clinical skills in a large tertiary centre in the UK. The post holder will join an existing pool of both anaesthesia fellows and numbered trainees who are taking part in a comprehensive ST4+ (specialist trainee year 4 and above) training program in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
