Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust's is an Award-winning service, and we are looking for motivated, enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who are passionate about improving the outcomes for young people and adults with neurodevelopmental needs. We are excited to be looking for a motivated and experienced Autism Diagnostician to join us for a fixed-term period of 12 months. We will welcome applications from experienced Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses or Clinical Psychologists.

The role will be responsible for delivering and leading advanced clinical diagnostic assessments within an established multi-disciplinary team. They will use advanced specialist skills relevant to their clinical specialism to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient-centred assessments and, where required, programmes of care, ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.

You will be working with our existing team of dedicated ASD assessors covering Hull and the East Riding. Applicants will have experience in completing autism diagnostic assessments with young people and/or adults  with neurodevelopmental conditions and undertaking multidisciplinary team autism assessments in line with N.I.C.E guidelines.

Main duties of the job

  • To practice autonomously without direct supervision.
  • To utilise advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose and refer patients requiring the clinical service
  • To recognise the need for, initiate and where appropriate interpretrelevant diagnostic investigations.
  • To recognise the need for and initiate where appropriate advice of relevant specialisms.
  • To demonstrate advanced clinical skills in ASD assessments and provide leadership, training and supervision of staff undertaking assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
  • To liaise closely with other members of the MDT to ensure a detailed and complete diagnostic assessment is completed in line with NICE guidance, demonstrating skill and confidence in identifying the need for further specialist in person assessment.
  • Act as lead senior practitioner to provide clinical/managerial leadership for the team in the absence of other senior team members
  • Be responsible for ensuring clinical outcome data is appropriately collated and routinely recorded to the Trust and professional clinical regulatory body standards
  • To employ excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to promote multi-disciplinary and interagency liaison and collaborative practice to broad range of audiences, including other professionals and service users
