Job overview

The Community Forensic Team has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Occupational Therapist to work within the Learning Disability and Autism Pathway. The post holder will be provided with comprehensive training in relation to the specialist forensic element of the role. We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide clinical leadership within the team. You will be a registered and experienced Occupational Therapist with a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience.

You will clinically lead and develop other professionals in the team whilst managing a caseload. The post holder will provide specialist consultation and advice within the team and to non-forensic services, providing support to inpatient services to determine safe discharge pathways for service users. The post holder will continue to develop relationships with stakeholders to enhance occupational opportunities in the community.

As we are a relatively new team, this is a genuine opportunity to lead and inspire others in a dynamic approach to service development.

The successful candidate will provide strong and effective leadership within the Teams working closely with the MDT to provide high quality clinical provision.

The community services are a fast-developing area of provision within the Forensic Division. The successful candidate will be a confident leader with a commitment to supporting a positive team culture whilst keeping service users needs at the centre of all we do.

  • Assesses and treats own caseload of patients / clients, individually and / or in groups, as part of multi-disciplinary team, in a variety of settings.
  • Leads in specialist area, contributes to development of specialist service and related policies, legislation to support evidence-based practice.
  • Supervises / manages staff / students working in own specialist area.
  • Provides specialist advice to social services, housing departments, clients, carers, other professionals on disability, housing, relevant legal and funding issues.
  • Leads clinical audits, undertakes research specialist treatment and provides advanced practice.
