ACUTE ONCOLOGY ADAVNCED NURSEPRACTITONER/TRAINEE, BAND 7/ANNEX 21 PARAGRAPH 2 (I))

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Trainee to join our Acute Oncology Nursing Team. The post holder would join the team responsible for triaging oncology patients and providing a direct/indirect out-reach acute oncology service for NHS Tayside.

The Acute Oncology Team provide assessment and intervention for patients with cancer / treatment toxicity and works with patients and carers to, where appropriate, prevent or facilitate admission.

The role will involve effective teamwork and communication with a wide spectrum of multidisciplinary teams. The ANP will work autonomously, triaging patients at home and reviewing unscheduled patients within the triage unit when required. Such patients may present acutely unwell or have a complex and undetermined presentation. The ANP therefore must demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and be competent in the assessment, diagnosis and management of the acutely unwell patient.

It is essential that you are a UK NMC Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse with extensive post registration experience within an acute care setting. Candidates who are already working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner but who do not have experience in Oncology are welcome to apply.

Candidates who do not meet the Advanced Nurse Practitioner criteria but who have extensive Oncology experience are welcome to apply for the trainee role, and will be fully supported to undertake the required education and supervised practice to develop the competence to work as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Annex 21 Para 2 (i) of the Agenda for change terms and conditions will apply until successful completion of the ANP training programme.

All candidates should be able to evidence your continuing professional development along with excellent clinical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills. You must be willing to undertake further education specific to this role.

You will be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of this service. Hours of work are: 36 per week.
