A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a 0.5 WTE Clinical Lead Specialist Hand Therapist to join our Hand Therapy team on a 3-year fixed-term contract.

This role includes shared Clinical Lead responsibilities, alongside the delivery of an advanced practice clinic for patients with complex fractures.

This is an exciting opportunity to further develop both leadership and advanced clinical practice skills, working in close collaboration with the Service Clinical Lead. The post holder will play a key role in enhancing service quality and efficiency, contributing to both advanced clinical practice and the wider Hand Therapy service.

Flexibility and innovation in ways of working will be fundamental to this role. You will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and a strong commitment to delivering high quality, evidence based care. The successful candidate will be proactive, confident in using initiative, and able to apply novel and innovative approaches to complex patient management and service delivery.

This role requires a clinician with a strong clinical background, alongside experience in quality improvement, research or leadership. We are particularly seeking someone who can lead with kindness, influence through collaboration, and actively support service transformation.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical expertise as defined by professional scope as an advanced clinical practitioner. To effectively and autonomously manage patients within a defined specialty (orthopaedics, plastics, rheumatology, pain, pelvic health, hand therapy and neurosurgery).
  • They will contribute to the day to day operational service planning and delivery of therapy services. They will be clinically accountable for delivery of the clinical service within area of responsibility and for the operational planning of a safe, effective service.
  • They will support the clinical service lead and speciality consultant teams with the development and delivery of innovative service improvement projects focussed on  improving quality of care and patient outcomes. They will support the clinical service lead  in the strategic development of the service
  • They will support staff development from a clinical and non- clinical perspective acting as a good role model. In partnership with their clinical service leads , finance and human resources colleagues, they will deliver department plans which drive efficiency and quality initiatives across the Division.

  • They will provide the clinical service lead with assurance of proactive management of clinical and cost improvement plans, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond to identified risks
