Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the expanding Cardiology Pharmacy team at the Royal site. The post holder will play a key role in delivering a high‑quality, safe and effective clinical pharmacy service across the Acute Coronary Care Unit and cardiology ward, while supporting and developing junior pharmacists and technicians. There will also be opportunities to contribute to specialist services, including lipid clinics.

We are seeking a motivated, forward‑thinking clinical pharmacist with experience and a strong interest in cardiology and working within complex clinical environments. The successful candidate will work closely with the cardiology multidisciplinary team to optimise medicines use, contribute to complex clinical decision‑making, and improve patient safety and outcomes. Experience in cardiology and lipid management would be advantageous.

This role is well suited to a pharmacist who enjoys taking ownership of clinical services, contributing to service development, and maintaining a visible, proactive clinical presence on the wards.

LUHFT employs over 120 pharmacists across three sites, delivering clinical pharmacy services to all major specialties. This post is based at the Royal site, with the support of a fully integrated electronic prescribing system and bespoke in‑house systems to enable excellent clinical care.

Main duties of the job

Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Medicine (Royal site) in the development of pharmacy services and medicines management within the Cardiology Directorate.

To provide a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to the Cardiology Directorate.

Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Medicine (Rpyal site) in providing clinical training and supervision, relevant to Cardiology, for other departmental staff.

Provide non-medical prescribing services to the Cardiology Directorate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide an advanced clinical service Cardiology Directorate within the division of medicine in accordance with professional, departmental and Trust policies.

Provide highly specialist pharmaceutical information to medical and nursing staff and patients within the Cardiology Directorate and to General Practitioners and other staff within the Trust where appropriate.

To act as an independent prescriber in accordance with the Trust's Non-Medical Prescribers policies and guidelines (once registered as a non-medical prescriber)

Participate in Consultant ward rounds , clinics and multidisciplinary meetings relevant to the designated wards and or directorate,
