Velindre Cancer Service is delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join the Sarcoma, Site Specific team.

We are looking for a qualified or trainee ACP with recent experience in oncology or palliative care.

We can support a training and development opportunity, providing you are on the Masters pathway as a trainee ACP or able to undertake the essentials of advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, planning care and prescribing.

If you are applying for this role as a Trainee band 7 ACP role, there will be an opportunity for the right candidate to progress to the ACP at 8a level once fully qualified and successful completion of the VUNHST ACP ratification process (Annex 21 could be applied).

In this role the successful applicant will work alongside the existing site-specific team. There will be close liaison with the regional South Wales Sarcoma teams and the Teenage Cancer Unit at the University Hospital of Wales Cardiff.

As part of the role you will provide:

  • Clinical assessment using advanced knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Provide diagnoses both differentiated and undifferentiated patients, and develop management plans for optimal care.
  • Participate in research related to area of practice provide and education/mentorship to a multi-professional audience within the University Health Board and in Higher Education settings.

Main duties of the job

On a daily basis the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will provide clinical assessment and management to patients. The post holder will support research/use information systems, lead, and participate in relevant research within practice as well as demonstrate an understanding of research methodology, Provides specialist education and training to other staff, students, patients and carers

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
