The Microbiology department at St George’s has state of the art of equipment offering full lab automation and a vast array of molecular platforms.  The laboratory prides itself on its innovative and progressive approach to Microbiology.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist the scientific laboratory staff.  The duties include specimen preparation and basic procedures in different sections of the laboratory including operating some of the testing instruments.  Some administrative work (e.g. entering sample request details on the laboratory computer, filing) will also be required and full training will be given.  You should have good attention to detail, be able to follow defined protocols, be flexible, highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and be a strong team player fully committed to patient care.

You will be expected to participate in a 24/7 shift system which includes weekend, night, late and bank holiday working.
