Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for an Administrative Officer to work in Specialist Children and Young People's Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS)

CEDS provides community support and hospital in-reach. This specialist service supports young people and their families in the community to manage their condition and prevent hospital admission. CEDS provide family based therapy in a range of settings as well as specialist clinical assessment and in-reach to paediatric and acute mental health settings.

CEDS is a very busy service, this role is to support the multi-disciplinary clinical team, including the medical secretaries to ensure that our service users receive high quality care from referral through to discharge.

Please note:  The service base is currently at Ravenswood Clinic, however they will be decanting to Benton House,  Sandyford Road, Newcastle, NE2 1QE, upon completion of renovation's

The ideal candidate should:

  • have experience of working with Microsoft packages and electronic record systems
  • have proven experience of complex diary management.
  • have advanced typing skills.
  • have excellent customer care and communication skills.
  • a good working knowledge of office procedures.

This post is a full-time post, Monday to Friday, 09:00 am to 17:00 pm, 37.5 hours per week and is office based.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be able to meet/demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrate extensive experience of providing secretarial support to the clinical team and work collaboratively.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and experience of establishing, managing and maintaining admin systems.
  • Organise own workload on a daily basis, able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be self-motivated.
  • Confident and competent in administration tasks including experience of minute taking and audio typing skills.
  • Experience working with software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams and Patient Information Systems (e.g. RiO).
  • Demonstrate the Trust’s Vision and Values in every aspect of their practice and actively build working relationships with others.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, dealing with patients, carers and professionals, in some cases where there are barriers to communication or understanding.
