Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual who has previous experience of working within an Older People's Healthcare setting to join our therapy team at Lings Bar Hospital  The Activity Co-ordinators post are to build on our successful existing team, so the post holders will have an exciting opportunity to further develop this new service. Some previous experience as an Activity Coordinator may be beneficial.

You will be part of a dedicated MDT delivering high quality care and rehabilitation to  patients and to support their discharge home. Experience of working in a hospital setting is preferable, however a full induction programme will be provided for the successful applicant.

Applicants should be creative and engaging with good communication and interpersonal skills.  You should have high levels of empathy and resilience and be happy working within a wider team of mixed professionals in an environment which can be demanding.

Main duties of the job

Under the guidance of the Therapy Team Leader and you will be expected to assist in the design and development of a range of therapeutic activities for patients.

As part of your role you will be required to use your own resourcefulness, engage, form rapport and motivate people to participate in activities.

Candidates should be respectful, compassionate, creative and have good communication and problem solving skills,   Experience of working with people with cognitive impairments and mental health conditions is desirable but not essential.

Supervision will be provided for the role and you will work closely with the other activity co-ordinator and the wider MDT to gain opportunities for support and training.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.  Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
