The available post is for a paediatric cardiologist with expertise in congenital cardiac MRI and a background of research in congenital cardiac MRI. The successful candidate will be employed by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and hold an honorary contact with the University of Leeds. The academic component of the post will be funded by the University of Leeds for 3 years, with the aim of developing a research programme that will enable the post holder to secure grant funding to continue academic work after the initial 3-year period. The post will be affiliated to the Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine (LICAMM) and Child Health Outcomes Research at Leeds (CHORAL). The clinical department serves a population of approximately 5.5 million in Yorkshire, Humberside and Northern Trent. Services include all aspects of specialist tertiary care of cardiac patients with the exception of transplantation. The annual workload of the department includes over 10,000 outpatient consultations, approximately 700 catheterisations per year, (diagnostic, therapeutic, and electrophysiology studies/ablations), and approximately 400 congenital cardiac operations.
