NHS Dumfries & Galloway is delighted to invite applications for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Adult SLT team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across both acute (inpatient and outpatient) and community settings, which may include Community Hospitals, Care Homes, and other domiciliary environments. You will gain valuable experience working with adults presenting with communication and/or swallowing disorders across a range of clinical specialities, including:• Stroke (acute and rehabilitation)• Medical• Neurology• Care of the Elderly• ENT• Respiratory
You will be based within the Therapies Department at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI), the central hub for the Adult SLT Service. Regular Videofluoroscopy (VFSS) clinics and Joint ENT–SLT Voice Clinics are also delivered from this site.
Our Adult SLT Service is committed to supporting staff development. New graduates are encouraged to participate in the NHS Flying Start programme and will complete their SLT NQP preceptorship within their first year. This post is equally suitable for candidates seeking to further develop their Band 5-level clinical skills. Ongoing support is provided through regular clinical supervision, line management, team meetings focused on quality and operational updates, and our departmental clinical research review group.
