We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior IT Specialist to join our Digital Department. This senior technical role is responsible for maintaining and supporting NHS Dumfries & Galloway’s complex computing, voice, and data communication infrastructure. You will ensure the high availability, security, and resilience of critical clinical and corporate systems across a region wide network, supporting approximately 5,000 users and 400+ servers.
You will act as a technical lead within your specialist area, resolving complex issues escalated from User Support, supporting major clinical and business systems, and contributing to infrastructure planning, disaster recovery, and continuous service improvement.________________________________________Key Responsibilities
A highly skilled and proactive technical specialist who thrives in a fast paced, complex infrastructure environment. Someone with strong problem solving ability, excellent judgement under pressure, and the confidence to lead on major technical issues. They will be a natural collaborator—able to explain complex concepts clearly, support and mentor colleagues, and work effectively with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders.
This person will have a deep understanding of networks, servers, and security, combined with a calm, methodical approach to resolving critical faults. They should be adaptable, self motivated, and committed to continuous learning, with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
