We are looking for innovative, enthusiastic, and patient centred consultant geriatrician to join our team in the Care for Older People at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are a friendly, dynamic and diverse team of experienced clinicians who will provide mentoring and support tailored to your specialist interests, and who recognise the importance of a good work-life balance.
We have a long tradition in multi-professional training and education at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as guiding candidates through a successful CESR application.
We are actively involved in care transformation for older people of Barnsley at Integrated Care Board level through the development of a Frailty Virtual Ward, Frailty SDEC, and Integrated Care with community colleagues, as well as service development and delivery in hospital inpatient and outpatient settings.
A detailed job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate on appointment. The successful applicant will be contracted to 10 PAs per week on average. It is anticipated that the split of programmed activities will be 8.5 direct clinical care and 1.5 supporting professional activities to ensure successful GMC revalidation. Additional PAs can be negotiated and agreed with the Divisional Director and Clinical Lead to reflect additional management and professional responsibilities, but the successful candidate will not be expected to commit to working more than 10 programmed activities on average per week. The agreed job plan will be subject to annual review and job planning.
This post will include weekend working on Frailty SDEC, currently just on Saturdays. Seven days a week working is currently being reviewed by the Trust and the COTE team is expected to provide 7 days consultant cover for Geriatric Medicine once this is operational.
