Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow post in Neonatal Medicine at ST 4-8 level commencing in Septebmer 2025.
The post is intended to provide an opportunity for those aspiring neonatologists/paediatricians wishing to further their neonatal experience in a tertiary medico-surgical NICU. This experience should leave candidates well placed for a successful application to join a national training scheme in Paediatrics, or to prepare for GRID applications in Neonatology during a break from Paediatric training, or for candidates wishing to have senior neonatal experience before taking a consultant post. It would also provide the opportunity to revise and enhance neonatal skills post-CCT in preparation for Consultant posts.
The neonatal unit at the Royal London Hospital provides tertiary medical and surgical neonatal care and has eleven medical intensive care, twelve high-dependency and fourteen special care cots. There is close consultant supervision and training is given in all aspects of neonatal intensive care. Although the post does not have formal educational approval, Clinical Fellows have the same opportunities to participate in the educational programmes, training and teaching undertaken by the Deanery approved specialist training doctors. There is an active unit academic programme and opportunities to participate in high-quality audit and quality improvement projects.
Eligibility for GMC registration with licence to practice is essential. Prior experience at middle-grade level in a tertiary neonatal unit is desirable.
The rota is a full shift system subject to regular compliance monitoring.
Further information can be obtained from Dr Lucy Fullerton, Consultant Neonatologist, email: [email protected]
