Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking General Waste Porters to deliver an effective and reliable waste portering service across the hospital. The role ensures all waste is managed in line with legislative requirements, Trust policies, and safe working practices.

Working as part of a team, post holders will provide a comprehensive service in all weather conditions, supporting the collection and movement of all waste streams in accordance with agreed schedules. The role requires a flexible approach to meet changing operational demands and to support the delivery of Safe, Kind, and Effective care.

### Main duties of the job

- To undertake all waste portering duties across the Trust.
- To provide a comprehensive refuse collection service for clinical, domestic, and recyclable waste streams including glass, paper, cardboard, and packaging, in line with Trust Policies, Procedures, and Waste Management guidelines.
- To collect and transport clinical (yellow/orange bagged), domestic, and recyclable waste from designated holding areas across the Trust, ensuring safe removal to the waste compound and appropriate use of compactors in accordance with procedures.
- To collect cardboard from designated areas and dispose of it using the cardboard compactor.To cover annual leave and sickness absence of designated departmental waste porters, undertaking a full range of associated duties.
- This is not an exhaustive list of duties, and the post holder will be expected to undertake additional tasks as required.
- The role involves a significant amount of walking across the Trust site.
- Full training will be provided to ensure competence in all aspects of the role.
