Davenport Ward is a 20 bedded female older age acute ward, based at The Meadows, in Offerton, Stockport. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate individuals who; have a positive attitude towards mental health and promoting recovery, have an understanding of positive behavioral support, are committed to delivering person centered & trauma informed care and want to support older age adults in their recovery. ### Main duties of the job Charge Nurses on the acute wards are active members of the ward management team, responsible for supporting the Ward Manager in the operational management and leadership of the Ward. As a Charge Nurse, your responsibilities will be; - Up hold the values of the ward promoting openness, transparency and learning - Supervision of junior staff - Enthusiastic mentor to new staff, newly qualified nurses and junior staff - Oversee certain areas of clinical expertise such as medication management and physical health provision on the ward - Support the Ward Manager with HR tasks such as return to works and sickness monitoring - Accurate and timely clinical documentation - Manage shifts as a nurse in charge - Conducting thorough assessments of risks and risk management plans to support incidents on the ward. - Undertake comprehensive mental health and risk assessments for older adults with mental and physical health care needs - Act as named nurse , contributing to care review processes and mental health tribunals - Deliver and evaluate person-centred nursing interventions - Provide clinical leadership and act as a senior decision maker during shifts - Regularly take charge of the ward, coordinating care delivery and staffing. - Work closely with families, carers and partner agencies to support effective discharge planning - Contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives - Maintain high standards of documentation, governance and safeguarding practice ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities - To be clinical leader of the nursing team providing care for people with severe mental illness and mental health problems - To provide clinical services that work within the policies, protocols and clinical procedures of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust. - To work as part of a team providing a user-focused, accessible and responsive acute nursing service that is safe, supportive and competent for people who experience acute mental health problems. - To assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for those who are experiencing acute mental health needs, within agreed limitations. - Patterns of working will be by arrangement and may include evenings, weekends, bank holidays and on call responsibilities - Provides management supervision to Band 5’s - To undertake managerial duties in the absence of the Ward Manager/Ward Manager ### Applicant requirements You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
