An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Ward Manager to lead our Dementia and Older People's Mental Health inpatient ward. This fixed term/secondment post offers the opportunity to further develop your leadership skills while making a significant difference to the lives of older people experiencing mental health difficulties. As Ward Manager, you will provide visible clinical and operational leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe and person-centred care. You will lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team, promoting a positive ward culture that supports recovery, dignity, and therapeutic engagement for patients and their families. The successful candidate will be an experienced nurse with excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. You will demonstrate a commitment to service improvement, staff development, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care. ### Main duties of the job ### Key Responsibilities - Provide effective clinical and operational leadership for the ward. - Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care and positive patient outcomes. - Lead, support and develop the multidisciplinary team. - Manage ward resources effectively, including workforce planning and budgetary responsibilities. - Promote and implement quality improvement initiatives. - Maintain compliance with clinical governance, safeguarding, and health and safety requirements. - Work collaboratively with families, carers, community teams and partner agencies. ### We Are Looking For Someone Who: - Is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration. - Has significant post-registration experience working within Older People's Mental Health and/or Dementia Services. - Demonstrates strong leadership and people management skills. - Has experience of managing complex clinical situations and risk. - Is passionate about delivering compassionate, person-centred care. - Is committed to supporting staff wellbeing, learning and development.
