This opportunity has arisen for the ideal candidate to join us in the post of Ward Manager – B5 Ward Trauma Orthopaedics on a fixed term/secondment basis.

This post forms an integral part of the Trauma and Orthopaedics service. The ideal applicant will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team and will have overall continuing clinical responsibility for managing the ward, including ward finances, staff deployment, delegation and supervision of all grades of staff and ensuring continuous high standards of patient care and safety within the resources available.

### Main duties of the job

Be an expert clinical role model.

Manage and lead the ward nursing staff in liaison with deputies. Collaborative working with the Practice Development Team and operational team, including external teams, to ensure effective working relationships.

Lead by example to motivate, develop and establish a well-trained, competent workforce to deliver safe and effective care to all patients within the ward / department.

Coordinate nursing and multi professional activity within the clinical setting, ensuring that there is appropriate skill mix for the patient caseload within available resources.

Promote and role model effective communication within the nursing and multi professional team, to patients, carers and visitors. Receive and report sensitive information.

- Evidence of previous service development, improvement or change management experience
- Experience within creating and managing rosters
- Evidence of developing policies, protocols and competency assessments

### Key Skills/Abilities

- Ability to resolve conflict and motivate a team

### Education and Qualifications

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse
- Post registration evidence of further training within the speciality
- Leadership Course
- Evidence of Degree level study

**Desirable**

- ILS Trained
- Acute care course or equivalent
