### Job overview

Greenways, our inpatient Assessment and Treatment Unit for people with learning disabilities, has an opportunity for a full time permanent housekeeper who will work as an integral and valued member of the staffing team where you will be actively involved in enhancing the patient experience.

The postholder will work 37.5hrs per week and be based at Greenways in Macclesfield.

### Main duties of the job

As our unit housekeeper, you will relate to all care disciplines to ensure the provision of a high quality and safe environment for all of the patients on the unit. Your tasks will include cleaning, catering, meal service and minor maintenance, stock control and ordering, as well as visits to the cash office to withdraw patient monies, occasional shopping for patient items, liaising with contactors and other members of the team and wider service together with any other specified tasks as identified by the Unit Management. All of these role aspects will contribute to enhancing the patient experience.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- In a similar environment or equivalent
- To be able to train others in Housekeeping duties

**Desirable**

- Previous NHS experience

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- NVQ Level 1 cleaning or equivalent experience
- Care/hospitality supervision and cleaning, equivalent experience
- Basic Food Hygiene
- Working towards/a requirement/willingness to achieve relevant NVQ’s up to level 3 through training and ward induction

**Desirable**

- NVQ Level 2 in cleaning
- NVQ Level 2 in Care
- Food Hygiene Certificate

### Knowledge and Expertise

**Essential**

- Good basic knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety. Including infection control
- Customer service, internal and external
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families and carers
- Work effectively in teams, appreciating the roles of other staff and agencies involved in the care of patients
- Fully understand and respect the respective rights and feelings of patients and their families, seeking out and addressing their needs
- Responsibility for some financial handling
- Organisation skills

**Desirable**

- Knowledge/experience of cooking for a number of people
