### Job overview

- To provide a high-quality efficient administration and clerical service to Unit staff, visitors and patients.
- To provide a reception service, acting as first point of contact on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals.
- To facilitate good communication with other wards and departments involved in patient care or ward/departmental functioning.
- To input data regarding all admissions, transfers and discharges.

### Main duties of the job

- to assist in the provision of high standard care by providing a high quality efficient administration and clerical service to unit staff, visitors and patients.
- Acting as first point of contact on the telephone or face to face, for patients, visitors and other healthcare professionals facilitating effective communication.
- To manage data on admissions, transfers and discharges, through electronic systems, ensuring information governance and confidentiality is kept at all times.
- To work in a collaborative and co-operative manner and to recognise and respect their particular contribution within the care team.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Previous experience of working in a clerical environment

**Desirable**

- Experience within the NHS

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Well-developed computer skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently

### Qualifications & Training

**Essential**

- GCSE’s A-C (Maths & English) or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience
- NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent demonstrable experience

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of hospital computer systems: Ecamis, Opera, Opera live, PACS, Ice Web Medical Terminology
