We are looking for a Ward Clerk  to join Birch Ward.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a friendly manner as you will be communicating with  a wide variety of people. You will be hard working, highly motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative.

Proposed Interview date: 27th July 2026

### Main duties of the job

- Effective communication with colleagues, carers, visitors to the ward in a professional manner, responding to a diverse range of enquires.

- Ensuring enquiries are managed effectively with the appropriate support to enable an effective outcome.
- Ensuring effective communication with the nursing team and multi-disciplinary team (MDT), to allow for effective MDT working and prompt decision making
- Initially responding to concerns where necessary and escalating these to the appropriate member of staff where required
- Ensuring there are processes in place to remind staff to carry out actions/tasks that are time specific. (For example, contacting internal/external teams or checking medication has been requested and arrived in preparation for discharge)

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Good clerical experience
- - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- - Experience of contact with members of the public
- - Recognised computer/IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- - Experience of team working to achieve targets

**Desirable**

- - Previous ward clerk experience
- - Experience of team work
- - Experience of working with EPR
- - Understanding medical Terminology
- - Experience of working in the NHS

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- - Good standard of general education with strengths in English and Maths at GCSE Grade C or above
- - NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject equivalent

**Desirable**

- - Evidence of on-going development as appropriate
