An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join The Paediatric Surgical Day Unit at the Great North Children’s Hospital at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The successful post holder will provide and maintain an efficient and effective administration service to the ward team and contribute to the delivery of a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multidisciplinary team 2 days per week

Main duties of the job

The post is suitable for an individual wishing to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing indirect patient care. There will be considerable communication with patients, families and clinical staff in the ward environment and at the paediatric surgical day unit reception desk.  The successful candidate will be required to work Thursdays and Fridays, no weekends and no bank holidays

Applicants must have excellent communication skills with a pleasant, welcoming personality.  Good IT and organizational skills are required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide and maintain efficient and effective administrative support to the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ensures case notes, investigations, X-rays and results are available for new admissions, ward rounds and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • To ensure that case notes are correctly maintained following departmental guidelines and compliance with legislation (Caldicott Guidelines etc).Ensuring PAS system is up to date and accurate.
