Ward 8A is looking for a ward clerk to join our team. Hours can be discussed at interview.

The Ward Clerk on a Ward 8A plays a vital administrative and coordination role, supporting the safe and efficient flow of patients through the unit. The post holder acts as the central point of contact for patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary clinical team, ensuring accurate documentation, effective communication, and smooth day-to-day ward operations.

Working in a fast-paced acute environment, the Ward Clerk helps maintain patient records, manages admissions and discharges. The role is essential in ensuring high standards of patient care, confidentiality, and organisational efficiency. *Please note this vacancy may close early once sufficient applications have been received*

### Main duties of the job

- Act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors
- Manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges on electronic systems
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation
- Liaise nurses, bed management, and other departments
- Arrange investigations, clinic appointments, and transport as required
- Answer and direct telephone calls and respond to queries promptly
- Prepare notes for ward rounds, admissions, and discharges
- Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality, and trust policies
- Support the ward team in prioritising workload during busy periods

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
