This role involves working shifts, including days (staring at 7.30am), evenings (upto 10:00 pm), weekends, and bank holidays.

This post involves meeting and greeting patients and visitors, reception work, data entry, computer based work, ordering stock, answering the telephone and other general office duties as required by management on a very busy Children and Young People's Unit. The successful candidate must be able to communicate well with families. Furthermore the role is front of house and requires someone who is friendly, approachable and goes the extra mile to support families and maintain an outstanding patient experience.

### Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to provide a range of clerical duties to support the team in delivering a high quality service.

Excellent communication and people skills are essential to this post and the individual would have to display good interpersonal skills at interview. Education to GCSE standard (or equivalent) and previous clerical experience are essential.

You will be based on ward 30/32 but may occasionally be required to support on ward 12 (children’s day case ward).

### Skills

**Essential**

- Literate and numerate
- Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of using Microsoft Office applications
- Previous experience in a secretarial / administrative role

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in health service
- Knowledge / experience of EPR
- Knowledge of medical terminology

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
- If an appropriate speed and accuracy of typing is required for this role, this will be assessed at interview
- Good general education
