An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at Ninewells Hospital for an individual to join our team as a full-time Ward Assistant.

AMU is a dynamic, fast‑paced and innovative clinical environment providing acute and emergency care to patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions. The service also incorporates an Ambulatory Assessment Area, working closely across the interface of acute and primary care. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills within a large, diverse multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. You will work closely with the Senior Nursing and Medical teams, supporting the smooth and effective running of the ward.

Main duties will include a range of administrative responsibilities, ordering and monitoring supplies, answering telephones, communicating with patients, relatives and members of the public, and carrying out general ward duties to support effective ward flow. Knowledge of computer systems used within NHS Scotland would be desirable, though full training will be provided.

You will be required to comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment. Information on the Healthcare Support Worker Regulations can be found on the NHS Tayside microsite via StaffNet \> Our Websites \> Healthcare Support Workers.

Hours of work: 36 hours per weekWorking pattern: Day and night rotation, including weekend cover.
