An opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to join our team in supporting Ophthalmology Service developments. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated applicant with a desire to provide high quality patient care and proven evidence of the ability to learn and apply new skills within their work area. Experience in recent ophthalmic care is desirable.

This Health Care Support Worker post role will include delivering patient care under the direct supervision of registered staff in a theatre environment. Deliver role in accordance with Health Board / trust values and the code of conduct for HCSW’s in Wales.

The hours of work are variable, covering ophthalmic service needs, which may at times from include weekend working.

We are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic to provide an excellent standard of care with the right values for this role. Full induction into the post will be supported and there are great opportunities for career advancement and the opportunity to develop additional skills such as venepuncture, and the recording of patient general and ophthalmic clinical observations following training and competencies.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

### Main duties of the job

- Undertake tasks as delegated by a Registered Health Care Professional, in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation.
- Perform basic safety checking and preparation / attachment of equipment.
- Support effective transfer of patients and equipment.
- Perform the role of the circulating person under supervision supplying items to the sterile field and supporting the safe processing of specimens.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and appropriate storage of stock items.
