An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Videographer (with expectations to contribute to clinical photography services) to join the Clinical Photography and Design Services Team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

The department delivers high‑quality clinical photography and video services across a range of specialties including Dermatology, Burns, Plastics, and Cleft Lip and Palate. Video work supports patient care, clinical documentation, education, training and Trust communications. The role involves working in the studio, wards, outpatient areas and operating theatres, contributing to a positive patient journey.

The successful applicant will have a strong interest in clinical videography and be willing to work as part of the wider clinical photography team. Duties include filming, editing and post‑production, with training and support provided to develop clinical photography skills.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the Trust values of being ambitious, brave and compassionate, be motivated, able to work independently, and a strong team player. A genuine desire to work with children and families is essential.

The role offers a varied and rewarding career within a leading NHS Trust. If not already qualified, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a funded Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Photography at Staffordshire University.

### Main duties of the job

To lead on the delivery of high‑quality video content for Trust communications and public relations, producing professional films for internal and external audiences including campaigns, staff communications, recruitment, patient information, education, social media and corporate use. The post holder will work closely with the Communications, Engagement and Marketing teams to plan, film and edit video projects that reflect the Trust’s services, values and people across clinical and non‑clinical environments.

The role includes providing clinical videography to support patient records, treatment planning, teaching, training, research, clinical trials and audit, ensuring compliance with consent, confidentiality and governance requirements. The post holder will produce specialist clinical video recordings using techniques such as close‑up or macro video, low‑light filming, multi‑camera setups and accurate colour capture.

The post holder will operate video, audio and lighting equipment in studios, wards, outpatient areas and operating theatres, undertake post‑production editing and formatting for multiple platforms, comply with infection control procedures, support sensitive work such as end‑of‑life care with compassion, contribute to clinical photography services when required, and promote the development of Trust video and communications services.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of general and PR videography and lighting.
- In depth knowledge of digital imaging workflows.
- Advanced computer literacy with in-depth knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro.

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with neonates and children.
- Detailed knowledge of specialised clinical video procedures and policies inc. appropriate legislation regarding consent, copyright and data protection.
- Experience in the development and management of safe digital image storage systems and databases.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Degree in Multimedia/Video Communication or equivalent.
- BA (Hons) / BSc in Photography

**Desirable**

- BSc (Hons) Clinical Photography or Graduate / Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Photography (Qualified)
- AHCS Accredited (Medical Illustration) - Qualified
