### Main duties of the job

As a Urogynaecology Specialist Nurse, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care for women with pelvic floor and bladder conditions. You’ll work both autonomously and as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team to provide expert assessment, treatment and ongoing management.

Your main duties will include:

- Running nurse‑led clinics such as pessary management, bladder retraining, catheter care, self catheterisation  and pelvic floor education
- Providing specialist assessment and advice, supporting women to understand their condition and make informed choices about their care
- Supporting diagnostic and treatment pathways, and developing own skills to undertake urodynamics, botulinum toxin, conservative management and post‑operative follow‑up
- Managing your own caseload, ensuring safe, effective and timely care
- Working closely with consultants, physiotherapists and wider MDT colleagues to deliver seamless, evidence‑based care
- Contributing to service development, quality improvement and audit to help shape a modern, responsive urogynaecology service
- Offering education and support to patients, families and colleagues, helping to raise awareness of pelvic health across the organisation

## Person Specification

### Clinical Experience

**Essential**

- Gynaecology/Urology Background: Substantial post-registration experience in a gynaecology or urology setting is critical
- Senior Level Experience: a minimum of 3 years of experience at a senior nurse level (Band 6) within a relevant specialty
- Hands-on experience with female catheterisation and an understanding of urogynaecological procedures

**Desirable**

- Nurse-Led Practice: Proven experience in managing a caseload or running specialist clinics, such as catheter management or trial without catheter (TWOC)/pessary

### Core Skills and attributes

**Essential**

- Autonomy: The ability to work independently, make clinical decisions, and manage a dedicated outpatient caseload
- Advanced Communication: Skills to convey highly complex and sensitive information (e.g., diagnosis, invasive procedures) with empathy and reassurance
- IT Literacy: Competence in using clinical databases, electronic patient records, and spreadsheets for audit purposes
- Ability to travel to different geographical locations across the Trust footprint in line with service needs

**Desirable**

- Full UK driving license with willingness to use own car for work purposes

### Qulaification and experience

**Essential**

- NMC Registration: Must be a First Level Registered General Nurse (RN) with a current, valid NMC PIN
- Post-Registration Specialist Training: Evidence of further study in gynaecology, urology, or continence care
- Mentorship/Teaching: A recognised mentorship or teaching qualification (e.g., ENB 998 or equivalent) is almost always required to support junior staff and students

**Desirable**

- Completion of leadership course
