The Leicester Children's Hospital Paediatric Surgery Team is inviting applications for a Trust Grade Specialty Registrar to start as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor with experience of working at a registrar level in paediatric surgery to join the team. These post have been developed in order to support the continued delivery of high quality care to children across the Leicester Children's Hospital. The successful candidates will join our team of paediatric surgeons and paediatricians and provide a wide range of clinical services across the spectrum of paediatric surgery and urology.

The successful candidates will be working alongside the team of consultant Paediatrician surgeons and paediatricians from a variety of specialities including acute and general paediatrics, paediatric intensive care and paediatric subspecialty Across the Children's Hospital. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

All posts have a service element and the following covers the majority of duties. There will be minor variations in different hospitals but the list is aimed at covering the majority of duties:

- Supervise, monitor and assist the House Officer (F1) in the day-to-day management of in-patients
- Liaise between nurses, F1 and F2 Doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
- Attend and review patients in the Paediatric Emergency Department/Paediatric Short Stay Unit (CSSU)
- Attend and participate in ward rounds as timetabled
- Take part in rostered emergency work. (on call)
- Dictate discharge summaries.
- Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
- Teach medical students as directed.
- Co-operate with members of the personnel department when monitoring hours of work and other personnel issues.
- Attend induction.
- Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave
- Post holders may be required to assist in General Paediatrics from time to time.
