### Job overview

Our CESR rotational programme at University Hospitals of Leicester is an exciting opportunity intended to provide the clinician with the support and training required to successfully complete all aspects of the CESR process. We are one of the largest maternity units in the United Kingdom offering all aspects of specialist and sub-specialist care in obstetrics and gynaecology. Our department is renowned for its training and support. The Consultant body has current MRCOG examiners as well as experience at successfully becoming a Consultant via the CESR process supported by this department. There will be a specifically-designed training and teaching package for all successful applicants and there will be a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation who will guide completion of the CESR dossier. This includes a formalised in-house Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) (in addition to appraisal for revalidation purposes). The rotation is initially offered on a fixed term contract for 8 months until August 2026. The post holder must be registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice.

### Main duties of the job

The fellow will act as a middle grade Doctor capable of unsupervised duties, though under the direction of the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and work on a rota with Specialist Trainees (junior/senior) depending on level of experience. The programme will contain a mixture of antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics, and gynaecology theatre sessions per week and on call commitments, covering all clinical aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology. Adequate level of knowledge and experience is required for this specialty. Competence in the management of obstetric and gynaecological emergencies is mandatory.

The department is able to offer advanced training in Ambulatory Gynaecology, Benign Gynaecology, Emergency gynaecology and Early pregnancy, Reproductive Medicine, Maternal medicine, Advanced antenatal practice, Labour ward, Oncology, Urogynaecology.

The successful candidate will be expected to take an active part in Clinical Audit, Risk Management and Clinical Governance, organisation of clinical meetings, and teaching sessions

Undergraduate medical students are taught by the UHL throughout the medical course from years 1 to 5. Both ward and outpatient based clinical teaching as well as tutorial and lecture style teaching is undertaken. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduates and postgraduates as part of this post.

Post holders will be given the opportunity to gain experience in aspects of clinical management, leadership and governance, including root cause analysis and business case development, towards becoming a consultant, focusing upon clinical leadership, governance and managerial aspects
