### Main duties of the job

This post holder is required to provide junior registrar equivalent ward cover in Clinical Haematology and will be based across the inpatient, outpatient and laboratory as part of the middle grade rotation. The post holder will be expected to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team providing direct clinical care.

The exact level of responsibility will depend on the previous experience of the doctor. Typical duties may include:

- Providing middle grade ward cover
- Providing middle grade day unit cover
- Direct admission of patients to the ward for assessment and ongoing management
- Referral when necessary to other departments
- Organisation of TTAs and discharge summaries
- Review of haematology outliers on other wards with the support of a senior haematologist
- Attendance in haematology outpatient clinics (supported by a consultant)
- Laboratory work (supported by a consultant)

There is no on call commitment with this post, but there may be scope to include this after 6 months at the discretion of the department.

The post-holder will be assigned a clinical/educational supervisor and the experience gained can be geared towards supporting individual development needs and aspirations.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Department of Haematology is looking to appoint a fixed term Trust Doctor (junior registrar grade) to provide middle grade haematology cover for an unfilled training number. The post holder will work as part of the haematology middle grade rotation. The pattern of work is compliant with the European Working Time Directive.

## Person Specification

### Eligibility

**Essential**

- Must have Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Minimum 24 months of experience in Internal Medicine Training or equivalent
- Minimum 12 months experience of working in an NHS Haematology department at any grade

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Has achieved MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Satisfactory completion of Foundation training or equivalen
