Newham University Hospital is a district general hospital with a major undergraduate teaching role, serving one of the most ethnically diverse populations in the UK. The Care of the Elderly Department has an age related policy for medical admissions, with ongoing care of medical emergencies in patients aged 75 years and above.  This is in association with a General Medical (all ages) integrated on call rota. The Geriatric consultants also provide the majority input into the Medical Admissions Team, as well as providing Stroke, Frailty and community services. The successful applicant will contribute to the acute GIM service at Newham University Hospital (NUH), with full commitment to the integrated general medical on call rota (Registrar level). They will have continued management of older medical inpatients on an acute geriatric ward. The team also comprises of a full multidisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, social workers, pharmacists. Secretarial/patient pathway coordinator support is based at NUH. The post holder requires MRCP (or European equivalent) and previous NHS experience.
