An Anaesthetic Trust Grade post has become available within the department of Perioperative medicine at Whipps Cross Hospital. These posts are funded by Barts Health and are therefore Trust Grade appointments. They attract the MN37 payscale, 1A banding supplement (50%) and london weighting. These posts may also assist successful candidates who are working towards Stage 1 RCoA competencies.

The Department of Perioperative Medicine provides anaesthesia for all surgical specialities and is involved in many exciting initiatives. The Critical Care Unit/s comprises 17 beds. There are 800 - 900 admissions per year. The maternity unit provides an engaging training environment and has 4500-5000 deliveries/year. On calls are on a 1:8 rolling rota and will be in either Emergency theatres, critical care or obstetrics.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Completion of Foundation competencies
- Post‑foundation clinical experience of more than months

**Desirable**

- Previous Critical Care / Intensive Care Medicine experience
- Prior ICM rotation or trust‑grade post with on‑call exposure

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- MB BS or equivalent medical degree
- Full and current GMC registration
- Completion of UK Foundation Programme or equivalent
- Evidence of right to work in the UK
- Valid ALS certification

**Desirable**

- FRCA, MRCP, or FFICM OR successful completion of Part 1 of any of these
- Valid APLS and/or ATLS certification

### Teaching Experience

**Essential**

- Documented experience teaching clinical skills to undergraduates or junior doctors

**Desirable**

- Formal training in teaching methodology
- Regular involvement in structured teaching programmes

### Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

**Essential**

- Evidence of effective teamwork
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of working safely under pressure
- Demonstrates insight into limitations and escalation of care

**Desirable**

- Evidence of leadership activity
